“Every human on that battlefield will die!” Umbrella Ent. in Australia has debuted the official trailer for a kooky action comedy called The Emu War, set for a special release this weekend Down Under. Following sold out screenings at Monster Fest, Umbrella is bringing The Emu War back to cinemas for a weekend of event screenings from June 21-23. “Created by the prolific Australian comedy outfit, Hot Dad Productions, this web-series turned feature film is an unhinged take on the true story of the infamous Great Emu War that will have audiences laughing, gagging, and cheering till the very end.” Based on the Great Emu War of 1932, a platoon of soldiers are driven into a brutal and bloody battle against Australia’s deadliest flightless beasts in this shockingly violent comedy. The non-stop joke fest stars some of Australia’s finest comedians: Damian Callinan, Lisa Fineberg, Aaron Gocs, Dane Simpson, Ben Russell, Jonathan Schuster, Lena Moon, Cameron James, Ethan Marrell, and Luke McGregor. Alas there’s no US release set for this yet. It looks hilarious! Just like the spoof movies of the 80s & 90s that they don’t make anymore. I’m in.

Based on the infamous Great Emu War of 1932, The Emu War follows a rag tag platoon of soldiers who are driven into a brutal and bloody battle against Australia’s deadliest flightless beasts. Haunted by the kidnapping of his son at the hands of vicious, feathered insurgents, WWI veteran Major Meredith once again takes arms against Australia’s enemies: this time an armada of villainous emus hellbent on colonial destruction. Leading a platoon of crack troops behind enemy lines in order to kill the emus supreme leader – the Queen Emu. The Emu War film is co-directed by Australian actors / filmmakers John Campbell & Lisa Fineberg & Jay Morrissey, all making their feature directorial debut after working on the “Gocsy’s Classics” series. Its also written and produced by Jay Morrissey & Lisa Fineberg & John Campbell. This initially premiered at the 2023 Monster Fest in Australia.
