Two Seasons, Two Strangers Trailer

“I wonder what the atmosphere would be like to see us walking in the snow from afar.” ❄️ Several Futures has unveiled an official US trailer for Two Seasons, Two Strangers, an acclaimed Japanese drama from filmmaker Shô Miyake. This won the Golden Leopard top prize at the 2025 Locarno Film Festival last year, a prestigious award in the art house cinema festival circuit. It’s next playing at the New Directors/New Films Festival in NYC in April before hitting limited US theaters also later in April. Based on mangas, a calm and poetic new Japanese drama. In summer, Nagisa & Natsuo meet seaside exchanging distant looks and clumsy words in the rainy ocean. In winter, screenwriter Li goes to a snowy village meeting Benzo at his guesthouse. Despite disconnected talks they embark together. Two Seasons, Two Strangers is at one and the same time as simple as its straightforward title suggests and immensely, exhilaratingly complex. Starring Shim Eun-kyung, Yumi Kawai, Mansaku Takada, Shirô Sano, and Shin’ichi Tsutsumi. This looks like a truly lovely, unique, intimate film with intertwining stories about relationships & human connection. Take a look.

Based on the two mangas written by Yoshiharu Tsuge, who rose to underground celebrity thanks to his surrealist tales published in the pages of the bastion of Japanese avant-garde cartooning, Garo, Miyake’s bifurcated live-action feature observes (and draws parallels and contrasts from) a summertime meet-cute between Nagisa and Natsuo (Yuumi Kawai and Mansaku Takada) and a snowbound winter encounter between screenwriter Li and innkeeper Benzo (Shim Eun-kyung and Shinichi Tsutsumi). Two Seasons, Two Strangers, originally known as 旅と日々, is written and directed by Japanese filmmaker Shô Miyake, director of the films And Your Bird Can Sing, Wild Tour, Small Slow But Steady, All the Long Nights previously. Produced by Masayoshi Jônai. This initially premiered at the 2025 Locarno Film Festival last year where it won the Golden Leopard top prize. Several Futures debuts Sho Miyake’s Two Seasons, Two Strangers in select US theaters starting April 24th, 2026 coming up this spring. Anyone want to watch?
