First trailer for Chris Evans and Dwayne Johnson’s Christmas movie

Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans’ Christmas movie Red One has just dropped its first trailer.

It’s been a long time coming, but it seems the project is finally one step closer to getting to cinemas, where it’s scheduled to be released this November.

Johnson alerted fans on social media that a first extended look at the movie from director Jake Kasdan was going to drop today (June 25), and gave a few details about the plot.

First announced in 2021, Red One promises to be a star-studded festive action comedy revolving around the suspicious disappearance of Santa Claus, portrayed by JK Simmons.

Johnson plays Callum Drift, commander of the ELF task force called to find the man before Christmas rolls round.

“All points alert to everyone around the world — be on the lookout for this man.
Last seen at the North Pole,” Johnson’s Instagram post reads.

When the movie began production back in 2022, Johnson published a social media post, writing: “It’s beginning to look a lot like CHRISTMAAAS. Officially kicking off production for our CHRISTMAS franchise film titled, Red One with my guy @chrisevans.”

“Chris and I have been waiting to make a Christmas movie our entire careers and now finally, the trouble begins,” he continued.

Red One is incredibly special to me and a story I’ve wanted to tell for years,” added storywriter Hiram Garcia. “An epic, edge-of-your-seat, action adventure that takes beloved holiday mythology and turns it on its head.”

Alongside Johnson, Evans and Simmons, the cast of Red One also includes Lucy Liu, Kiernan Shipka, Mary Elizabeth Ellis, and Bonnie Hunt.

Red One is scheduled to be released on November 15, 2024.
