Geoff McFetridge: Drawing a Life Trailer

“It’s not an accident that the largest corporations want to pick his brain about how to communicate with visual language.” Gravitas Ventures + Dress Code have debuted an official trailer for an indie documentary film titled Geoff McFetridge: Drawing a Life, a biopic about a famous artist. This intially premiered at the 2023 SXSW Film Festival last year (where it won the Documentary Audience Award), and will be out to watch on VOD worldwide in early July. The iconic work of artist Geoff McFetridge is everywhere. You’ve probably seen his drawings somewhere at some point, on social media or in galleries or in marketing. But this film is more than a primer on his career – it’s about the choices we confront trying to lead meaningful lives, and how we use our most precious resource: time. Deeply thoughtful and illuminating, Drawing a Life reveals the details of artist Geoff McFetridge’s life and work while delving further into the many universal questions of what makes a fulfilling life and how to live with intention in the limited time we all have. Well this looks fantastic! I love a good story about artist that is as inspiring as it is fulfilling. I’ll be watching this.

One of the most prolific artists of his time, Geoff McFetridge (follow him @mcfetridge) has undoubtedly influenced the way the world looks. His art is everywhere — on your Apple watch, in galleries around the world, in title designs for films by Sofia Coppola & Spike Jonze, and in collaborations with Nike, Hermès, Warby Parker, and more. The antithesis of the archetypal artist fueled by drugs, alcohol, and chaos, what sets the prodigious McFetridge apart is his obsessive quest to balance family with a creative life. In Geoff McFetridge: Drawing a Life, director Dan Covert offers unprecedented access into Geoff’s multifaceted world, painting an intimate portrait of a man guided by intention and authenticity. Geoff McFetridge: Drawing a Life is directed by the American artist / filmmaker Dan Covert, making his feature directorial debut after many other short films & docs previously. It’s also produced by Covert. Executive produced by Amanda Adelson, Andre Andreev, and Spike Jonze. This initially premiered at the 2023 SXSW Film Festival last year, and it also played at the 2024 Chiayi International Art Doc Film Festival in Taiwan. Dress Code will debut Geoff McFetridge: Drawing a Life on VOD starting July 2nd, 2024 this summer. It’ll also show at a few special events in June – more details on Geoff’s IG.
