There might be fewer movies in 2024 compared to 2023 because of last year’s writers’ and actors’ strikes — some studios even pushed titles because of that — but there is certainly no shortage of entertainment heading to theaters or available on streaming services.
There are several sequels on tap, including Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two, starring Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Austin Butler, and Florence Pugh; Ryan Reynolds returns for Deadpool 3, this time joined by Hugh Jackman, reprising his role as Wolverine; Jack Black is back for Kung Fu Panda 4; Paul Rudd & Co. return for Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire; plus Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon — Part Two: The Scargiver, Venom 3, Gladiator 2, Inside Out 2, Despicable Me 4, and Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga in Joker: Folie à Deux.
Other hotly anticipated titles in the Mad Max spinoff/prequel Furiosa, starring Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth, the Mean Girls movie musical, Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt in The Fall Guy, the Lion King spinoff Mufasa, and the first of two Wicked movies starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande.
